Our Robert Burns Assembly
Some highlights from our Scots event.
We love Robert Burns so much we dance to his music.
Our class song for the Scots Event is “Ye Banks and Braes.”
Primary 3 have been on stage reciting our class poem in preparation for our Scots Event on Monday.
We have been listening to songs by Robert Burns. One of the class favourites is Ye Jacobites. Neiv chose to learn all the words at home. Have a listen 🙂
We made Wee Willie Gray. We read all the Scots words in the poem very carefully to see what his clothes were made from and what colour they were. Neiv and Morgan decided that Robert Burns would be very proud of our wonderful artwork.
Ye Banks and Braes
Ye banks and braes o’ bonnie Doon,
How can ye bloom sae fresh and fair?
How can ye chant, ye little birds,
And I sae weary, fu’ o’ care!
Thou’ll break my heart, thou warbling bird,
That wantons thro’ the flowering thorn!
Thou minds me o’ departed joys,
Departed, never to return.
Aft hae I rov’d by bonnie Doon
To see the rose and woodbine twine;
And ilka bird sang o’ its luve,
And fondly sae did I o’ mine;
Wi’ lightsome heart I pu’d a rose,
Fu’ sweet upon its thorny tree!
And my fause luver stole my rose –
But, ah! he left the thorn wi’ me.
But, ah! he left the thorn wi’ me
